What is body composition analysis?
Body composition is the amount of lean and fat that makes up total body weight. The lean portion consists of muscle, bone and water. Your lean and fat ratio need to be within established recommended limits in order to avoid many of the health problems associated with excessive body fat, which include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, coronary heart disease and kidney disorders. Awareness of body composition is equally important with low levels, as adipose tissue is essential for your body to function. The “fear of obesity” in the modern world has seen a dramatic increase in disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Therefore it is vital to have a balanced body composition.
